Why Plum worked
People Team
While the backend worked, Postman’s people team relied on manual processes and Google Sheets for benefits enrolments, updation, and communication.
Plum’s tech-first HR dashboard powered by API integrations with insurers, automated the entire benefits workflows.
Employees
Most of Postman’s employees, used to digital-first experiences for e-commerce and banking, couldn’t come to terms with having to rely on archaic, manual processes to raise and track insurance claims.
Plum’s digital app made claims tracking easier for teams. In addition, AI-powered features like PolicyGPT and ClaimsLens offered an intuitive, simple experience.
Employees and People Team
A disjoined employee health experience, with different vendors and no unified platform to track adoption.
In addition to insurance, Plum offered primary and preventive healthcare offerings in one single app – easing adoption for employees, and streamlining processes for Postman’s people team.

NameTypePopular for techGood to live inNotes
HSR LayoutResidential,OfficeYesYesHSR is popular amongst folks working in startups and tech. Most houses here are more spacious than your usual Blr house hunt drives. Perhaps, the only con is that HSR can be quite far from OG Bengaluru spots. But, communities like HSRisHome should solve that.
Electronic CityOfficeYesNoMost Blr tech parks are located in and around Electronic City. But, if you’re starting up from scratch in Blr, a place like E-city can be isolating to live in. It’s far from the usual chill spots.
KoramangalaResidential,OfficeYesYesThe dream place for folks living and working in Bengaluru. It’s a lively and young neighbourhood.
IndiranagarResidential,OfficeYesYesDense with tech people living here. The neighbourhoods are very posh. The cost of living in Indiranagar can, thus, be pretty high.
BanashankariResidentialNoYesOld Bengaluru. You’ll likely run into quieter and family-oriented people + lifestyle. Great area to live in.
SarjapurOfficeYesNoUp and rising for tech but further away from the city. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’ve decided that your office space is around HSR or Sarjapur.
JayanagarResidentialNoYesYet again, a quieter and family-oriented neighbourhood. Time feels like it moves slowly and differently there. Would highly recommend living in Jayanagar and working from there, if possible.
WhitefieldResidential,OfficeYesYesThis neighbourhood has a high concentration of offices, buildings, and high-rise apartments. It’s an up and coming neighbourhood, occupied by a lot of tech people. It has great metro connectivity to all the hotspots in the city.
DevanahalliResidentialNoYesIt’s said that Devanahalli could be the next IT Hub of Bengaluru but that’s going to take time to manifest. Lots of retired folks live here – recommended for people with families.
Bannerghatta RoadResidentialNoYesNot a lot of tech folks live here. There are also fewer startups located in this area. But, the locality is residential and a great place for families and youth.
JP NagarResidential,OfficeYesYesOld Bengaluru but with tech. There are many cafes and co-working spaces around – perfect for working folks. Lots of space to run and go on long walks around the area.
SadashivanagarResidentialNoYesQuiet and a bit further away from the action of Bengaluru, but worth checking out as residential
RajajinagarResidentialNoYesQuiet and a bit further away from the action of Bengaluru, but worth checking out as residential
MalleshwaramResidentialNoYesOld Bengaluru. Unlikely to have a tech scene going on. But, residential and a good place for families given the area is well-developed and has all basic amenities covered.
Frazer TownResidentialNoYesSerene and lots of good places around for food. Good for a Sunday morning hangout but not too much tech
Cooke TownResidentialNoYesJust like Frazer Town. Lots of places around for food and things to do. But, not too much tech happening.
BTM LayoutResidential,OfficeNoYesYou might see established software companies around this area. But good for residents.
HalasuruResidential,OfficeYesYesDense with tech people living here. The neighbourhoods are decently posh. However, they’re unlikely to be as expensive as Indiranagar though.
MarathahalliOfficeYesNoHigh concentration of offices, buildings, and high rise apartments. A lot of tech people live here. Cons: Farther away from the city.
KengeriResidentialNoNoFar from the city and tech scenes. Unlikely for startups to be found here.
Kalyan NagarResidentialYesYesUpcoming tech area and a new-age Indiranagar. Recommend folks check Kalyan Nagar out as an alternative to Indiranagar.

Notes
Colaba
Residential,Office
This is the place to be in. Retains Mumbai’s old architecture and contains a mix of residential + office spots. Also a great place to live in but the rental costs could be super high, unfortunately.
Nariman Point
Office
Retains Mumbai’s old architecture, has the marine drive stretch, and contains a lot of office buildings. Dense with tech people.
Malabar Hills (Walkeshwar)
Residential
Elite of the elite residential area - home to Antilla (Ambani residence), and numerous top Indian industrialists across majority business houses.
Lower Parel/Worli
Residential,Office
If you’re interested in meeting your idols, a casual stroll around Lower Parel is great for that. This place consists of a lot of hangout spots — clubs, spas, malls, and more. It’s an expensive side of town to live in, though. Home of the Lal Baigh Raja - largest and most iconic of the Ganesh installments during the festival in August.
Dadar
Residential,Office
Renowned for local train hub (intersection of Western, Central and Harbour line rail tracks) & out-station. Dominant in residential, the region is sprinkled with offices, known for its local food joints and iconic tourist spots like Shivaji Park, Chaitanya Bhoomi/Ambedkar Memorial.
Bandra
Office,Residential
Quick context: Bandra also includes Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Lots of offices and startups around this place. Unfortunately, it’s also a very posh neighbourhood. It has the Bandstand Promenade nearby (good for a de-stress walk if you can reach by foot).
Kurla, Chembur, Ghatkopar
Residential
These places listed are closer to BKC. It also extends to Sakinaka, an eastern suburb. These regions serve as a good living option with affordable housing and homely neighborhoods.
Vile Parle, Santacruz
Residential
Serene place. It has a beach nearby. It’s residential and a good place for families given the area is well-developed and has all basic amenities covered. Lots of places around for food and things to do.
Andheri
Office,Residential
Crowded. This neighbourhood has a high concentration of offices and buildings. Reasonable place to live in if you have to move to Mumbai (even if your office is in Colaba, Lower Parel, Bandra).
Powai
Residential
A quieter and family-oriented (upscale suburban) neighbourhood. Not recommended for tech, though home to IIT Bombay campus. Sprinkled with few corporate office, the place is known for its top restaurants, bars and restobars.
Goregaon
Residential,Office
Dense with offices (with more companies shifting base here) and tech people living here. The neighbourhoods are decently posh. The cost of living in Goregaon can, thus, get pretty high.
Malad
Residential,Office
An obscure fact for you: Malad has the most number of popular vada pav spots. This part of town also has a high concentration of offices, buildings, and high rise apartments.
Borivali
Residential
Not a lot of tech folks live here. There are also fewer startups located in this area. But, the locality is residential and a great place for families.
Thane
Residential
While a district of its own, it houses many residential complexes offering affordable accomodation (but can get a fair bit expensive in Hirandani and similar gated communities). Also home to several factories and industrial areas. Dampner here being travel time to central parts of Mumbai.
Navi Mumbai
Residential,Office
It’s an up and coming tech neighbourhood. A little far from Old Mumbai, but with the new Atal bridge, you can go to Old Mumbai in under 12 minutes. It’s also home to the eventual additional airport to Mumbai, though that maybe a good 3-6 years away.
